Intersex Day of Remembrance is observed on November 8 each year. This day raises awareness of intersex individuals, their rights, and the challenges they face, while honoring those who lost their lives due to medical interventions, stigma, or violence.
Intersex variations are natural differences in physical traits that don’t fit typical definitions of male or female bodies. Intersex people often face discrimination and a lack of understanding about their identity.
This day promotes recognition and remembrance, offering activists, organizations, and communities a chance to discuss the issues intersex people encounter and highlight the need for support and rights protection. It also encourages education, aiming for a world where everyone can live freely and with dignity, regardless of their body or identity.
Supported by the Core Grant of the SMART Balkan project by CPCD BiH, CRPM North Macedonia, and IDM Albania, with funding from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
