Public Call for the Design of the Logo and Visual Identity of the RahatluQ Festival

Tuzla Open Centre announces a public call for the design of the logo and visual identity of the new queer art and activism festival RahatluQ.
The RahatluQ Festival, under the slogan “In the city of salt, love is free”, represents a space for the intersection of queer culture, feminism, activism, and local art through artistic, educational, and activist formats.

The aim of the festival is to build a safe, inclusive, and politically conscious space of community and resistance, providing a platform for community connection, mutual support, public dialogue, artistic expression, and the strengthening of activist engagement.
Special attention will be given to the recognition, promotion, and affirmation of LGBTI activists and artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Festival Values
The RahatluQ Festival is grounded in the following values:
non-violence
freedom of expression and identity
justice and equality
solidarity and community
inclusivity and integration of diversity
activism and social responsibility
authenticity and political courage
feminist ethics of care
antifascism
protest as a legitimate form of resistance
The visual identity of the festival should reflect these values, as well as the spirit of the community, including the local context of Tuzla and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

What are we looking for?
1. Festival Logo
Applicants are required to submit:
a primary full-color logo
a white version (for dark backgrounds)
a black version (for light backgrounds)
formats suitable for digital and print use (SVG, PNG – high resolution)
2. Festival Visual Identity
The visual identity should include:
a central visual for promotional materials (t-shirts, mugs, tote bags, etc.)
a proposal for the festival poster, including:
title: RahatluQ
slogan: “In the city of salt, love is free”
visual design of the poster
Applicants must also submit mockups (e.g. t-shirt, mug, tote bag) to demonstrate the application of the visual identity.
Awards
The total prize fund is 1000 BAM:
500 BAM for the best logo
500 BAM for the best visual identity
One person may win both awards, or the prizes may be awarded to different authors.

Who can apply?
The call is open to all interested artists and designers, whether working professionally or as amateurs.
Application process
Applications should be sent via email to:alija@toc.ba and pr@toc.ba
Materials can be submitted as:
direct attachments (if file size allows), or
via link (Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc.)
Applications must include:
logo and/or visual identity
all required versions and formats
mockups (for visual identity)
a short concept explanation
Applicants must also provide:
full name
contact phone number
a short description of previous work or experience in design (portfolio is encouraged)
a brief motivation for applying
If the applicant wishes to remain anonymous in the public announcement of results, they should provide a pseudonym to be used instead of their name.
Personal data will be used solely for communication and implementation of this call and will not be shared with third parties.
Selection Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated based on:
creativity and originality (works created using AI tools will not be considered)
alignment with the festival’s values
recognizability and clarity of the visual identity
reflection of the local context of Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the work of Tuzla Open Centre
Selection Process
A committee formed after the closing of the call will select the winner(s) in accordance with the categories (logo and visual identity).
The results will be publicly announced, and selected authors will be contacted via the email address used for submission.
Copyright and Notes
By submitting, applicants confirm that their work is original and not created using AI tools.
Selected works become the property of the organizer, who reserves the right to use, adapt, and distribute them for promotional purposes.
The organizer reserves the right not to select any submission if the quality criteria are not met.
