Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy an outstanding performance and support the work that is changing our community for the better.
The play features our young actors: Sunčica Strukar, Franko Bralo, and Amer Javoraš. Fikreta (played by Sunčica Strukar) has just turned 45. Although she has accomplished many things, her greatest achievement is the birth of her son, Armin. She grew up in a very strict patriarchal family where her father always had the final say, and in the case of rebellion, he was not afraid to use physical violence to ensure his dominance.
She was raised in an environment with clear rules of behavior and defined boundaries. Her marriage to Muzafer was seen as an escape from the harsh reality of her life. She always justified the violence by traditional customs, the need for order, and love. Fikreta is unemployed and believes a woman must be a homemaker who serves her husband and cares for the children.
Armin (played by Franko Bralo) is a very successful but also extremely anxious high school student who plans to attend medical school. He has always known that he is different and has tried to fit into a traditionally oriented society.
His adolescence brought many changes he is now learning to cope with, and the hardest part for him is the fear that his family will reject him and not accept him for who he is. Although incredibly brave and full of life, this young man must wear a mask every day to feel safe in his environment.
Muzafer (played by Amer Javoraš) is 50 years old and works as a bus driver for the city transportation in Tuzla. He believes life has a clear order, especially who is in charge at home, and that as a man, he is always right.
He enjoys football with beer and a shot of rakija more than his own child. He considers household chores to be women’s work, and sees his job as the hardest in the world. He considers his son his greatest pride and looks forward to the day when his son will bring a daughter-in-law to serve them all.
"What Will the Father Say" is the first play written by Admir Adilović, addressing important and emotional themes of family relationships, acceptance, and social norms. Premiered at the opening of Kvirhana in Tuzla in 2024, the play quickly won the hearts of the audience with its honest depiction of the complex dynamics within families, along with a deep analysis of the societal pressures faced by individuals trying to reconcile their identities with the expectations of family and society.
The plot of the play focuses on the issues of acceptance and understanding, particularly in the context of family relationships, and the challenges faced by those who deviate from traditional norms. Through a powerful dramatic performance, the play explores how the past, expectations, and love shape our decisions and identities.
Although this is Admir Adilović's first original work, it has already become a significant cultural event, provoking deep emotions and reflections in the audience. Due to its great success, the reprise of "What Will the Father Say" is scheduled for December 27, 2024, in Tuzla, providing another opportunity for theater lovers to experience this powerful and emotional performance.
Don't miss the unique chance to see the play again on December 27, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Pozorište mladih, Kaleidoskop Hall.
