Transgender Awareness Week is observed every November, especially from the 13th to the 19th, to raise awareness about transgender people, their rights, and the challenges they face.
This week is an opportunity to discuss important issues surrounding transgender identities and promote understanding and acceptance. Organizations and activists host events, workshops, and actions to inform and empower transgender people.
Trans people often face discrimination, prejudice, and violence, and their rights are frequently underprotected, including in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This week aims to educate the public and encourage support for equality initiatives.
It’s also a chance to reflect on progress in transgender rights and recognize the work still needed. Through education and empowerment, we can reduce stigma and create a society where transgender individuals are fully accepted and supported.
Supported by the Core Grant of the SMART Balkan project by CPCD BiH, CRPM North Macedonia, and IDM Albania, with funding from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
